Health System for sustainable development: Research, Management and Needs
Professor Ashraf Shaalan, National Research Centre & Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, EgyptAbstract: Health research is essential for improvement not only in health but also in social and economic development. During the present era, many challenges face human health. Among these challenges, communicable, non-communicable diseases and injuries have the highest impact. Making success in these challenges is supported by many needs which should be targeted by all health researchers to ensure a common policy. These needs will be discussed in details. A triad of success should link policy making with health research and health services. Therefore, three major questions are to be answered; what health research can offer for policy makers?, what health research can offer for health service providers?, and what is the role of policy makers?. The answers will be highlighted. The resources for health research and the 10/90 Gap will be also addressed. Lastly, a model for success will be presented.
