Dr Gioia Pescetto has a first degree in Economics from the University of Turin (Italy), an MA in Economics from the University of Maryland (USA) and a PhD from Durham University (UK). She worked in the financial sector in the City of London before starting her academic career in the UK. She held academic positions in finance at the University of Surrey, Brunel University and Durham University. Between 2005 and 2008 she was Associate Dean Postgraduate Studies at Durham Business School. She has published widely in international refereed journals, and co-authored and contributed to several monographs. Her current research interests are in corporate finance - particularly M&A, capital structure and payout policy - and in financial markets integration and interdependence. Previous research also focussed on European financial markets and institutions, regulatory finance, and emerging equity markets. She has taught extensively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in several areas of economics and finance, including microeconomics, financial economics, corporate finance, treasury management and research methods. She also has a very successful record in doctoral supervision.
